Christian Fruit

By Caswell A. Reeves

Have you ever wondered about people who claim to be Christians?  Who perhaps even go to church every Sunday.  But the rest of the week they live contrary to their Christian profession.  Their actions, attitudes and language, having a great deal to be desired, are all very inappropriate to their Christian claim.

The Lord Jesus spoke about this
HYPOCRITICAL BEHAVIOR, when He said, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matthew 7:20.  It is so simple to understand:  An apple tree bears apples and a pear tree bears pears; Therefore a Christian bears CHRISTIAN FRUIT and a non-Christian bears NON-CHRISTIAN fruit.

What is
CHRISTIAN FRUIT?  It is the fruit that evideneces your Christianity.  Anyone can say they are a Christian, but genuine Christianity is evidenced by its fruit.

Here is some fruit you can't help but notice, if you are a real Christian, and not just a professing Christian.

FIRST, you will notice a strong personal surrender and faith in Jesus Christ because of His love and sacrifice for you.  Another Christian once said, "I am crucified with Christ:  nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:  and the life which I now live ... I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20.

SECOND, you will notice a new and likeable relationship with God's children (other Christians).  Many times desiring to be with Chritians rather than non-Christians.  The Bible says, "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:  and every one that loveth him that begat [Christ] loveth him also that is begotten of him [Christians]." I John 5:1.

THIRD, you will notice a desire to tell others what Christ has done for you.  Especially about His salvation of you soul.  In Psalms we read, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed [Saved]..." Psalm 107:2.

FINALLY, you will notice distinct behavioral changes as a result of placing your trust in Christ.  The Bible says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:  old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17.

If you judge that the wrong fruit is in your life.  If you want to be
SAVED.  And if you truly believe God's Son died and rose again to save you (Romans 10:9):  then as sincerely as you can, bow your head and ask the Lord Jesus to forgive you of your sin and to SAVE you forever (Romans 10:13).  Now, believe God's Word (I John 5:11-13).
