THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST

Matthew 28:6

I. THE FACT

            A. HE IS RISEN

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." (Mat.28:6)

            B. HE PROMISED TO BE RAISED FROM THE DEAD

"But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee." (Mat.26:32)

            C. HE DECLARED HIMSELF TO BE THE RESURRECTION

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead,

                       yet shall he live:" (Jn.11:25)

II. THE PURPOSE

          A. HE SHALT BE CALLED JESUS

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he

shall save his people from their sins." (Mat.1:21)

          B. HE WAS DECLARED THE LAMB OF GOD

"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of

God, which taketh away the sin of the world." (Jn.1:29,1:36)

          C. HE DIED FOR US (8)

TO JUSTIFY US (9) (to declare righteous)

TO RECONCILE US TO GOD (10) (to make right)

TO BE OUR ATONEMENT (11) (restoration, reconciliation)

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more,

being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through

our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. (Rm.5:8-11)

TO BE OUR PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS (a satisfaction)

"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,

and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1 John 4:10)
